Consider applying to be a foster home.
Keep an eye out for Boxers in shelters, "free to a good home" Boxers advertised in local newspapers, and any other Boxers that might be in trouble. Please do NOT pull a dog out of a shelter on behalf of a rescue group. Let the rescue group know about the dog. We do check Petfinder listings daily, so it is not necessary to forward Petfinder listings to us.
Refer people to rescue! Let them know that rescue is a great way to find a new companion.
For people who would rather have a puppy, warn them not to purchase dogs from pet stores. Instead, educate them about finding a reputable breeder.
Volunteer for special events

If you are the activist sort, there are a couple of easy things you can do to help animals in jeopardy. Visit internet classifieds (Yahoo classifieds, etc.) and search for "Free to a Good Home" ads. Send a polite email to the advertiser and let him/her know how dangerous it is to give animals away. Urge them to charge at least a small fee, which will deter those unscrupulous people who collect such animals. You can also alert rescue groups about the situation.
